Sugared cranberries are a delicious sweet tart treat to eat on their own, but they look beautiful as a garnish on desserts.

I love them on orange pound cake or a gingerbread cake, or frozen and used in cocktails and drinks. These cranberries are super easy to make and require only 3 ingredients.

    What are Sugared Cranberries?

Sugared cranberries are essentially candied cranberries. The cranberries are coated in sugar syrup then rolled in granulated sugar. There's really not much to this recipe but, these cranberries really elevate a fall or winter recipe, and they look stunning in cocktails. Freeze the cranberries and they are great for replacing ice in a cocktail or cold beverage and also add flavor and taste delicious as well. I love them on my cranberry orange sour cream bundt cake.

    Storage and Freezing

Cranberries can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container. Keep leftover syrup to sweeten cocktails.

    Variations and Substitutions

Add orange or lemon zest to the sugar before rolling.

Add a sprig of rosemary to the sugar and water syrup to add rosemary flavor.

Add vanilla bean to the sugar syrup and/or granulated sugar when rolling to make sugared vanilla cranberries.

Add a flavored liqueur to the sugar syrup before coating, such as an orange liqueur, brandy or cognac.

    Enjoy!
